Job Summary:
J.B. Hunt’s User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Content Strategists and Software Engineers: we care deeply about the individuals that use our products. As an Expert User Experience Researcher, you will work with our entire UX team and help define and drive the future of J.B. Hunt research. You’ll identify and set research strategy, envision complex UX ecosystems and inspire our team to push boundaries of what’s possible. You possess a clear vision of the future of user experience and pursue forward-thinking research. You’ll work with our team of UXers, product managers, product owners, business analysts, engineers, etc. to recognize user needs while understanding the goals and vision of our products. You will govern the practice of UX research within the enterprise. You’ll interact with executive leadership to communicate the status of UX research and offer direction to support business goals. In addition, you’ll be responsible for creating and executing a strategy for user research that supports J.B. Hunt's culture and values. You’ll be instrumental in influencing user experience strategy through human-centered research methods that help clarify, define and prioritize user goals and outcomes.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advance our UX Research practices by creating and executing a vision and strategy for user research.
  • Partner with UX Leadership, UX Research, UX Design, product management, program management, etc. to define and ensure alignment on product research strategy while advocating for the user.
  • Partner with our dedicated UX Research team to prioritize, scope and coordinate UX team activities in line with business and user needs, ensuring innovation, standards on methodology and excellent execution.
  • Work with our UX Research team to set world-class research best practices.
  • Participate in creating an evidence-driven design culture by demonstrating mixed-method research competence, problem solving, opportunity mapping, journey mapping, measurement, etc.
  • Perform proficient data analysis and synthesis by using Power BI, Qualtrics, Hotjar, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Actively seek out difficult impediments to our efficiency as a team (process, tooling, etc.), and propose and implement solutions that will enable UX to work more efficiently.
  • Cleary communicate the status of research engagements to stakeholders, UXers, product management, product owners, tech leads, etc.
  • Work with UX Designers, UX Researchers, product managers, etc. to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research.
  • Advocate research findings to diverse audiences and executive leadership through written reports and presentations.
  • Defines our persona protocol and sets the roadmap and vision for personas for the enterprise.
  • Assist UX Research in facilitating and analyzing large groups of users and leadership in focus groups or design thinking sessions.
  • Manage the UX Research peer-review process to ensure test plans and final deliverables have been reviewed by at least one other UX Researcher.
  • Build relationships with leadership across disciplines, and act as a liaison with teams throughout the enterprise that have ongoing research needs.
  • Provide mentorship in research strategy across our growing team of UX Researchers.
  • Actively contribute to the UX Research team culture, processes, tooling, etc.

Compensation: $97,706.00 - $122,127.00



  • Deep knowledge in the field of UX Research with a proven understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience leading UX Researchers.
  • Outstanding communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skill with experience delivering to all levels of a company.
  • A proven record of driving change through UX Research.
  • Passion for the field of UX Research.
  • Evangelize research. Share user insights with the broader organization and externally in creative ways to increase empathy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, Sociology or other related fields.
  • 7 years experience with research design utilizing various methods including but not limited to usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys, etc.
  • Experience working in or collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.
  • 8+ years of proven experience conducting and leading design research.
  • Mastery in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience integrative user research into product designs and design practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience conducting research for both mobile and web.
