Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the position is responsible for the oversight of multiple sites/ fleets under one cost center with multiple levels of management. This position is also responsible for ensuring on-time and safe delivery of freight to each customer location. Strategic management and leadership over all aspects of operational performance, including problem identification, solution recognition and implementation, financial performance and profitability, and overall Safety and DOT compliance of assigned fleets. Incumbent must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility of scheduling to ensure operational success.  This includes, but is not limited to, day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute plan for forecasted freight volumes/customer volume needs, power/equipment needs, and adjust capacity needs as a result to ensure fleet/carrier and equipment coverage is seamless
  • Train on and audit all processes and procedures needed to execute the day-to-day operations; Identify and implement system or procedure improvement areas
  • Through strategic management, successfully promote, manage, and maintain a positive work environment and internal and external customer relationships to improve operational efficiency, employee and customer engagement, and driver retention
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with their assigned customers/ramp and communicates with internal departments and team to provide exceptional service, provide trouble free account operation, and identify and resolve problems or issues with ramp, driver, customer, account, etc., throughout the day and, where required, when on call
  • Responsible for various operational, financial, and service reporting on an ongoing basis
  • Responsible for complete P&L performance, including cost control decisions, expense management, and maximizing profitability, as well as identifying and maintaining key performance indicators. Includes design versus actual data analysis for each customer through mid-year business reviews, annual account assessments, and preparing and presenting final presentation, etc.
  • Oversee assigned fleet operations, including driver board coverage, customer service, safety, compliance, driver retention, and employee scorecard management and filling in for director when absent
  • Facilitate and determine employee trainings and development including monitoring ongoing performance progress to promote, engage, and retain employees in positions of increasing responsibility by optimizing job performance through evaluations, individual development plans, and employee recognition programs
  • Ensure fleet compliance with all Safety and DOT training, including working with applicable internal personnel to address any specific Safety needs that arise for individual fleets or drivers
  • Create the annual budget and train others to do so, audit current year performance of actual versus budgeted expenses and provide feedback to the Controller regarding required changes to the budget as a result of operational changes

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 or more years of Transportation/Logistics experience and/or 4-5 years of supervisory experience
  • Must posses a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record as per JBH standards; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related fields with 4-5 years of experience in the Transportation/Logistics industry with 4-5 years of supervisory experience

  • Ability to form and manage effective teams
  • Participate in the process of recruitment of permanent and contract personnel, achieving optimal match between candidate and position
  • Understanding of the resources required to achieve business objectives and ability to plan, mobilize and distribute resources to fulfill business objectives and plans.

Bachelors: Business Administration/Management, Bachelors: Finance, Bachelors: Supply Chain Management, GED (Required), High School (Required)
