Job Summary:
J.B. Hunt is looking for a capable and dedicated individual to work as an Ocean Import Supervisor. We are seeking someone who is highly skilled in all facets of Domestic & International Operations with J.B. Hunt Ocean / Freight Forwarding clients. Under general direction, this position is responsible for managing ocean operations. The Ocean Import Supervisor will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free movement of ocean cargo. The supervisor will guide the team, provide industry knowledge and training, and act as an escalation point for all ocean operations.  

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining internal operational databases ensuring compliance with the company’s partner/vendor standards as well as TSA requirements and regulations
  • Manage the creation of partner/vendor SLA’s &KPI’s
  • Manage monthly review of partners/vendors for compliance, score cards, etc.
  • Effectively manage ocean inquiries, handling of shipments, communication & problem solving both quickly and efficiently
  • Manage client relationships while overseeing quotes from partnering offices and agents to include monitoring and responding quickly to incoming/outgoing correspondence
  • Manage correct preparation of shipment quoting, routing, documentation, rate negotiation, tracking and billing
  • Assisting sales teams and global partners with air & ocean import and export issues
  • Interface with branch/station managers, international operations teams, account executives, customers, vendors and executive level management
  • Familiar with the varying processes of US Ports of Export and Entry and CBP regulations
  • Manage the correct preparation of international documents; MBL, HBL, (air and ocean)
  • General office and operational support
  • Manage station P & L, and drive overall performance
  • Control costs and all aspects of team spend
  • Interview, hire and train support staff
  • Prepare staffing GANNT charts and convey work schedules

Qualifications:
  • Mature with strong attendance and on-time work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook, experience is required
  • Individual must have a high level of drive, initiative, entrepreneurial mindset, self-starter
  • Experience with customer relations and relationship management
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills and be adept at problem solving and have excellent negotiating skills
  • Must be able to effectively & clearly communicate verbally and in written form across all levels of the organization
  • Proven experience in building successful teams
  • Proven leadership in mentoring a team and assisting in guiding their career expectations
  • Must be able to drive expectations set by the company and Sr. Leadership
  • Able to present ocean operating metrics to leaders at all levels within the company
  • Comfortable accompanying the sales team on client calls, as needed

Education:
Bachelors: Transportation Logistics, GED (Required), High School (Required), Bachelors: Logistics Management, Bachelors: Supply Chain Management
