Job Summary:
Under administrative direction, the position is responsible for contacting existing customers with mid to high revenue generation with demonstrated success in managing a book of business. This position is the primary owner of the account(s) to which it is aligned, and focuses on defining the opportunity strategy to sell J.B. Hunt services to the customer, aligning internal teams on developing and executing the strategy, and establishing and growing a book of business. The general nature of the accounts are cross-business unit with greater complexity, higher revenue, demand and/or volumes. This position has demonstrated performance, sales strategy execution, and cross-functional influence.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Create opportunities and proactively seek new business with existing customers.

• Meet with customers to discuss viable opportunities in an effort to understand their business needs, identify scope, submit a proposal, finalize the contract and win the business.

• Coordinate with internal teams and the customer to implement the customer's solution, including participation in kick-off and understanding contractual obligations to facilitate customer needs.

• Perform various activities related to Opportunity Management and monitoring the health of the account which includes, but is not limited to, Customer KPI review, revenue quality monitoring, watching for additional opportunities, contract and pay terms review to ensure adherence to agreement.

• Visit customers at their corporate headquarters or other sites as needed. Requires ability to travel to customer sites up to 50%.

• Understand, analyze, and make decisions using customer analytics, KPIs and additional data to in order to drive conversations or negotiations with customers to acquire new business and/or generate proposals.

• Maintain positive relationships with client management and other internal teams in order to maintain account ownership.

• Facilitate data discussion of key metrics against benchmarks and goals to keep pace with improvement opportunities, tell a story, and influence leaders.

• Participate in various leadership activities and initiatives i.e. leadership calls, resource groups, networking opportunities.

• Establish methods for capturing and communicating expert knowledge, best practices and thought leadership for industry specific areas.

• Document all sales activities in CRM to ensure adherence to policy and process.

• Demonstrate strategic leadership skills through participation in mentorship programs, leading across the enterprise, and influencing through expertise.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 or more years of transportation/logistics, sales and/or relevant experience.

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record as per JBH standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Communication, Sales or related field.

  • 5 years working in transportation/logistics or relevant experience; 3-4 years of demonstrated leadership experience.

Knowledge of and ability to implement effective strategies and activities that promote long-term customer loyalty- make more sophisticated.
Knowledge of the activities and responsibilities involved in selling a product or service.
Knowledge of the J.B. Hunt's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters.
Proficiency with Microsoft applications and programs.
Understanding of the importance of meeting or exceeding established targets and ability to drive critical activities to completion.
