Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the incumbent has strategic responsibility for J.B. Hunt's portfolio of capital expenditures and other corporate spending. Under leadership direction, the incumbent will partner with the business to maximize company value by procuring goods and services through effective procurement practices, meeting business requirements, managing supplier relations, practicing innovative negotiation and buying methods, and efficiently paying suppliers according to agreed terms.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research industry best practices and sourcing categories through continual education and industry resources including trade publications to provide subject matter expertise
  • Develop and maintain long term relationships with key stakeholders to ensure an effective collaborative working environment where procurement serves as an advocate for the business
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis to stakeholders regarding their category procurement activities, spend profile, savings results, and risk mitigation activities
  • Maintain knowledge of existing capabilities to ensure maximum leverage of technology investments
  • Manage procurement related technology solutions, including, where applicable, contract management, inventory management, catalog management, procurement operations and administration, as well as interfacing with all upstream or downstream systems, such as accounts payable
  • Ensure compliance to the laws, regulations, and ethical standards set by the company and applicable regulatory agencies
  • Ensure system data integrity through appropriate internal controls
  • Review, update, and create system controls and reporting to monitor/ensure compliance with P2P policies and best practices
  • Ensure strategic suppliers are performing to their contracted obligations and meeting business unit expectations
  • Ensure sufficient business unit support for sourcing strategies and category/supplier implementation plans
  • Establish procurement operational specifications by working with key stakeholders and others to analyze and refine business requirements (demand, cost, quality, service


Minimum Qualification:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Logistics or 3-5 years of intermediate experience in procurement and supply chain management
  • Experience with inventory management, Transportation Maintenance procedures and shop tooling
  • Ability to manage the end-to-end procurement process in Maintenance related inventory items, parts and tooling
  • Experience conducting quoting events for Truck and Trailer parts
  • Experience in spend optimization and consolidation of Maintenance shop inventory
  • Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Excel, and ability to leverage, where necessary, other reporting and analysis tools
  • Experience with extracting data from structured and unstructured sources, internal system and vendor supplied
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments
  • Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
  • Effective communication skills
