ABLE: Abilities Beyond Limits and Expectations

We believe part of J.B. Hunt’s success depends on every employee feeling respected and empowered. We’ve taken steps to build a workplace where inclusion is part of our everyday operation, and one piece of that puzzle is through our employee-led, voluntary employee resource groups (ERGs).

Get to know one of our seven ERGs, Abilities Beyond Limits and Expectations (ABLE), the group’s mission, goals and foundational pillars.

Meet ABLE

Launched in December 2024, Abilities Beyond Limits and Expectations is our seventh employee resource group at J.B. Hunt. ABLE supports people with visible and invisible disabilities, along with their caregivers, by focusing on mental and physical well-being as key parts of one’s identity and working to integrate that understanding into everyday life.

Through their four pillars, ABLE aims to focus on education, raising awareness and increasing accessibility for all J.B. Hunt employees.

Culture: Raising Awareness

ABLE’s culture pillar works in conjunction with company-wide initiatives to create a place where all people feel like they belong. The culture pillar hosts internal education sessions, opportunities to connect with other employees and works alongside other company ERGs to help promote an environment of understanding.

“ABLE gives everyone a good avenue to be able to talk to other people who maybe are going through the same thing or have gone through the same thing,” said Nate, a client manager, ABLE member and caregiver. “One of the reasons we’re so passionate about ABLE is to be a voice for people that don’t have a voice.”

Career: Strengthening Opportunity

Working alongside J.B. Hunt’s inclusion and talent and development teams as well as other ERGs, ABLE’s career pillar aims to give all employees information on how to learn about internal job opportunities, find areas in their current skillset to upskill and make meaningful connections through networking events.

“I wanted to join ABLE simply because it’s a personal connection. It directly impacts me as a person,” said Jake, a software engineer and ABLE member. “And the fact that the company’s willing to do something that they didn’t have to go out of their way to do … that’s important to me.”

We care about growth.

Community: Supporting Each Other

During Disability Inclusion Month in July and quarterly activities hosted by ABLE, the community pillar aims to create experiences to build community and connect with all employees.

“Regardless of whether people have a disability or not, just coming together and being able to learn about resources … I feel like ABLE is one that touches so many different lives,” said Cassidy, J.B. Hunt experience manager, ABLE board member and caregiver.

Commerce: Impacting Business

At J.B. Hunt, we are a company that is Driven for You™, and our ERGs are a piece of the puzzle that helps our people stay connected and have a feeling of belonging. Along with all ERGs, one goal of ABLE is to foster an inclusive workplace where we can grow together. Through a focus on wellness caregiving and accessibility, ABLE empowers all employees to help achieve long-term goals.

“ABLE gives us a community of people that can come out with shared experiences and have conversations where we can all understand that we are not alone in the different ways that we experience the world,” said Carl, an engineering and technology manager and ABLE board member.
