Meet AAmERG: Our African American Employee Resource Group

We are focused on providing an environment for our people that is welcoming and inclusive. One piece of our larger inclusion puzzle is our employee resource groups (ERGs). ERGs are voluntary, employee-led groups that allow our people to connect, learn and volunteer together.

One of these ERGs is AAmERG, our African American Employee Resource Group. Get to know AAmERG and the mission, pillars and goals that make up this group, and how they help work toward our larger team goal of fostering an environment where all J.B. Hunt employees can feel that they belong.

About AAmERG

The mission of AAmERG is to drive connectivity for all by encouraging professional development and networking to help employees grow together as people. AAmERG aims to accomplish their mission through opportunities to connect with the business and the community while providing educational resources to engage with African American culture and support the success of all employees.

“I think it’s important that we shine a light on our achievements in the African American culture,” said Maria, a director on our Engineering and Technology team and member of AAmERG. “I feel that it’s important that we always look back at what we’ve done in the past, what we contribute currently in the present and what our future leaders look like.”

Through lunch and learns, workshops, mentoring, guest speakers, networking events and more, members can gain new knowledge and make meaningful connections that make a big difference for their careers.

Engagement and Connectivity

One of our focus areas as a company is not just serving communities through our work but also by giving back. We are able to do this through our company giving pillars as well as through the volunteer efforts of our employees and employee resource groups. AAmERG’s Engagement and Connectivity pillar gives members opportunities to volunteer with organizations like the American Heart Association and others to give back as a group and put time into causes they care about. We know that a focus on others makes us all better, together.
