March is Women’s History Month, and to celebrate, we are highlighting our employee resource group (ERG) that is focused on the success of women … GROW!
“GROW stands for Growing and Retaining Outstanding Women, and really what our ERG is all about is finding ways to empower both the personal and professional success for women here at J.B. Hunt,” said GROW member and Senior Experience Manager, Jennifer.
We sat down with Jennifer to learn more about GROW, and how involvement with this ERG benefits our employees, J.B. Hunt and the community.
About GROW
GROW was the first of many ERGs at J.B. Hunt, and it supports women in our organization personally and professionally through its pillars of recruitment and retainment, professional development and building connections. Sponsored by Chief Operations Officer and EVP Nick Hobbs, all employees, regardless of gender, are welcome and encouraged to get involved with GROW.
GROW Events
Throughout the year, GROW hosts various Lunch & Learn presentations, networking events and volunteer activities that align with its mission to celebrate women in the workplace and build community at J.B. Hunt.
For International Women’s Day, GROW hosts a week-long celebration packed with professional development opportunities, fun events, panel discussions and keynote speakers.
Community Involvement
The impact of GROW extends outside of J.B. Hunt. GROW partners with several local organizations that provide support for women, giving members the chance to serve their community and connect with women outside of J.B. Hunt.
“We look for different ways to help out in the community, and specifically helping women. So, we partner with groups like Dress for Success,” said Jennifer. “We’ve also recently partnered with the Girl Scouts of America to help bring transportation education to young girls so that they can see a career path inside of transportation as a future.”
Impacting Our Organization
Through its pillars for success, GROW recognizes the value women bring to J.B. Hunt and ensures that women remain an integral part of all we do at J.B. Hunt. GROW is a great way for employees to connect and build meaningful relationships with others across the organization.
“It just helps to foster community and connection much like the other ERGs do, and so here at J.B. Hunt, GROW can help be that community driving force. As well as just making sure that we have both empowerment and advocacy for women inside of J.B. Hunt,” explained Jennifer.
