At J.B. Hunt, we recognize that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial to the well-being of our employees. Whether you’re welcoming a new child, or need time off due to military service, we provide a variety of paid leave opportunities, in addition to our comprehensive benefit options, that allow employees to take care of themselves and put their families first. Keep reading to learn more about some of J.B. Hunt’s leave options.

Does J.B. Hunt Offer Maternity Leave or Paternity Leave?

Welcoming a child is an exciting time for new parents! J.B. Hunt offers leave options for expectant parents and their partners to enjoy this special time in their lives with their growing family. Birthing parents can benefit from up to six weeks of 100% paid maternity leave, with the opportunity to take additional time should they need or qualify. We also offer options for non-birthing partners to take up to two weeks of paid parental leave to bond with their new child.

In addition to maternity and paternity leave, J.B. Hunt provides fertility benefits for employees through our medical plan options. This is an amazing opportunity for couples to get the help that they may need to start or grow their family.

Does J.B. Hunt Provide Adoption Assistance and Leave?

Through our Adoption Assistance Program, J.B. Hunt provides financial support to employees who are welcoming a child into their family through adoption, up to $5,000. This can be used to help with adoption fees or legal expenses. Adoptive parents are also eligible for two weeks of 100% paid parental leave to celebrate their growing family and to focus on their newest family member. This time may be taken during the placement for adoption or once the adoption is finalized.

“Last year, our family welcomed our first child into our family by adoption and it was because of J.B. Hunt helping us,” said Bre, a senior sales manager in Denver, Colorado. “I think that’s an awesome benefit that a lot of people don’t realize they have access to here.”

Does J.B. Hunt Offer Medical Leave for Employees?

We understand that illnesses or injuries can happen to you and your family members. We want to be there to support our people when the unexpected happens. That is why we not only provide Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave, which is up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave. We also have personal medical leave options for employees which consist of six weeks of unpaid leave.

What Military Benefits Does J.B. Hunt Offer?

As a military-friendly employer, we are proud to have so many employees that actively serve our country across many branches of military service. We offer leave options for military members, including those in the National Guard and Reserve, who are called to active duty or training to meet their service obligations.

Military members and their families may also take up to 26 weeks of leave during a calendar year to care for a family member or loved one who becomes injured or ill while on active duty.

“J.B. Hunt has been really good about supporting me, especially with the oddball times of when I have to go on drill weekends and stuff like that,” shared Nicholas, a tractor technician and member of the Arkansas National Guard. “I can just go up to the shop manager without an issue and tell him when my upcoming dates are, and he’ll accommodate my schedule to fit my drill weekends where I don’t lose my paycheck.”
