When Mr. and Mrs. Hunt relocated to Northwest Arkansas, they saw something special in this area of the state. Special enough to plant their business, J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., here.
Since then, Northwest Arkansas (NWA) has transformed in numerous ways. With a population of nearly 600,000 people, and growing, we believe Northwest Arkansas will continue to set trends and surpass other areas in the South as one of the best places to live.
Making up the Northwest Arkansas region are Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers, Springdale and many other smaller towns. According to U.S. News and World Report, Northwest Arkansas’ very own, Fayetteville, was ranked as #10 on the list of Best Places to Live in the United States for 2023-2024.
Tucked in the Ozark Mountains, Northwest Arkansas is a thriving community with amazing local businesses, beautiful outdoor recreational activities and rich arts culture. Not to mention, Northwest Arkansas is the home of the Arkansas Razorbacks which regularly hosts Southeastern Conference sporting events for fans far and wide to attend. There’s something for everyone to enjoy in NWA.
With housing, food and entertainment prices below the national average, Northwest Arkansas residents enjoy a high quality of life without breaking their bank. People from all over are eager to move here for the job opportunities in the area, the academically rigorous public and private schools and strong sense of community that NWA has to offer.
Our J.B. Hunt corporate campus is located in Lowell, Arkansas, a community nestled in the middle of Northwest Arkansas that allows employees to easily commute from any of our four major cities. Northwest Arkansas Community
Ma, Regional Equipment Manager I
As a mother, Ma has been super thankful for the community feeling that NWA has offered her family. One of the things that has stood out to her is the southern hospitality and close-knit feeling you get living here. The school systems and safe environment have been integral in Ma and her family realizing that Northwest Arkansas is the perfect place for them to call home.
One of Ma’s favorite Northwest Arkansas activities is attending First Friday in Downtown Bentonville. First Friday is a free, monthly festival series featuring live music, food trucks, family-friendly activities and local vendors.
“While I was hesitant to move from a place where I was comfortable and used to call home, I am happy that we ended up in Northwest Arkansas. I love it here.” – Ma
Technology Career Growth in Northwest Arkansas
Chris, Director I
As a Northwest Arkansas native, Chris has a special place in his heart for this area of the state. So much so, that he regularly takes part in NWA Tech Fest, a local volunteer-led tech-focused nonprofit that benefits the Northwest Arkansas area. This group facilitates STEM education and community in Northwest Arkansas by putting on monthly social events and a yearly conference.
One of Chris’ favorite Northwest Arkansas activities is visiting Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Located in Bentonville, Crystal Bridges’ permanent collection is free for all to view and regularly houses exhibits from artists such as Andy Warhol and Annie Leibovitz.
Nature Lovers Thrive in Northwest Arkansas
Kathy, Regional Equipment Manager II
Being born in Southern California, Kathy said that moving to Northwest Arkansas was never really in the cards for her. However, when presented with the offer to relocate for a job at J.B. Hunt and travel to a new place, she couldn’t say no to the opportunity. Once in Northwest Arkansas, she loved how charming the area was and definitely learned more about what true southern hospitality was.
Kathy suggests visiting the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve in Bentonville if you get the itch to enjoy the NWA nature. Coler Mountain Bike Preserve is a bike park and trail system that offers more than 20 miles of trails and is the perfect place to take your four-legged friends.
Lucy, Logistics Engineer II and Reed, Business Development Manager
Both eventually relocating to Northwest Arkansas after graduating from Mississippi State University, this couple enjoys the balance of suburban life and city-like atmosphere that NWA has to offer.
Since moving to Northwest Arkansas, Lucy and Reed have become raving fans of the Razorback Greenway. The Razorback Greenway is a 40-mile primarily off-road, paved trail that travels throughout the seven main communities, allowing people to bike and travel the entirety of Northwest Arkansas on one singular trail.
“Northwest Arkansas is only continuing to grow and develop into something even better than it already is.” – Lucy
