At J.B. Hunt, we believe it is our corporate responsibility to support and serve our people and our community. As a company, we focus our charitable giving in four main pillars of support: crisis management, education, healthcare and veteran support.
In 2021, our company giving total exceeded $6.3 million in company and employee contributions. Keep reading to learn more about the many ways we used our time, efforts and resources to give back this year.
Truckers Against Trafficking
For the past eight years, J.B. Hunt has been a proud platinum sponsor of Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a nonprofit organization that educates, equips and empowers transportation professionals to fight human trafficking. This year, in partnership with TAT and the Arkansas Trucking Association, J.B. Hunt hosted the Freedom Drivers Project, a national mobile exhibit on the realities of human trafficking, to raise awareness of human trafficking and create more advocates among the Northwest Arkansas community.
Supporting Communities in Crisis
This year, we focused our resources on serving local communities across the country impacted by crisis or natural disaster. We were honored to provide the transportation of bottled water to the residents of Jackson, Miss. during their water crisis, and delivered feed to farmers impacted by flooding in eastern Kentucky this fall. These are just a few of the ways, working with our customers and our employees, that we were able to step in and support communities in times of need.
J.B. Hunt Scholarship Program for Families
In 2022, we had several big announcements showing our support of education. Through Scholarship America, the J.B. Hunt Scholarship Programs for Families awarded $250,000 in scholarships to the children or grandchildren of J.B. Hunt employees. This year we were honored to provide scholarships to the families of 100 employees for their dependents to attend college, vocational or trade school programs.
Collaboration with the University of Arkansas
J.B. Hunt has long been a proud supporter of the University of Arkansas, gifting $7 million over the past five years to advance innovative, supply chain focused initiatives. This year, J.B. Hunt and the University of Arkansas announced the Sam M. Walton College of Business program for studying supply chain, ranked number one in the country by Gartner®, is now officially renamed the J.B. Hunt Transport Department of Supply Chain Management. With this collaboration also came a new $1.5 million commitment from J.B. Hunt to the Walton College to support the program.
Adopt-a-Class
For the past 10 years, J.B. Hunt has proudly donated classroom supplies to elementary schools across the country through our Adopt-a-Class program. Through Adopt-a-Class, company drivers can nominate the classrooms of their children or grandchildren to recognize teachers who go above and beyond for their students. This year, we donated $55,000 worth of school supplies to 55 classrooms, bringing our grand total to over $238,000 worth of supplies donated over the past 10 years.
Wreaths Across America
Wreaths Across America is one of the many ways we support our service members and give to programs supporting our military. Over the past nine years, we’ve worked with Wreaths Across America to honor our country’s fallen heroes. This year, our drivers will deliver 287,000 wreaths to 12 national cemeteries, with 100% of the cost of each load covered by J.B. Hunt.
