About PLUS(+)
PLUS(+) creates a safe, authentic and empowering community for individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+ and allies to add to the conversation around workplace inclusion and build connections that impact their personal and professional wellbeing. PLUS(+) is an all-encompassing group, encouraging all J.B. Hunt employees, even those who do not identify as LGBTQIA+, to get involved.
Through their focus areas of educating, uniting, and retaining members, PLUS(+) builds and sustains an inclusive workforce where all employees can be uniquely themselves.
Educate & Engage
PLUS(+) engages all J.B. Hunt employees and offers a space for continuous learning to help build understanding. Through Lunch & Learns and other group events, PLUS(+) provides educational opportunities and resources on a variety of LGBTQIA+ topics that promote understanding and acceptance within our company.
“PLUS(+) is amazing when it comes to inclusion. It doesn’t matter if you are LGBTQIA+ or not,” said Brooke, PLUS(+) member and customer experience representative at corporate. “They want everyone included to support and understand. One of my favorite moments in being part of PLUS(+) is that the first event we had, they sat down and explained everything from pronouns of transgender people, to understanding how the community is. It really helped others that are not part of that community understand more about who we are.”
Unite & Uplift
PLUS(+) connects J.B. Hunt with the community through volunteer events and community outreach, with a focus on engaging with LGBTQIA+ organizations. PLUS(+) also works with our other company ERGs internally to help unite all employees and show support with other interest groups so that we continue progressing our inclusive culture.
“As a chair on the Unite & Uplift pillar, I really focus on connecting all of our groups, not only internally, but externally,” said Darrell, a client manager at corporate. “Coming to J.B. Hunt, there’s always a group that’s for everyone. The best part about being a part of an ERG, or employee resource group, is that you get to connect with people who have the same interests as yourself.”
Recruit & Retain
Through this pillar, PLUS(+) focuses on the professional development and growth of LGBTQIA+ employees and allies, while also focusing on recruiting new members through events or outreach efforts. This pillar offers PLUS(+) members and employees the resources they need to feel supported and successful in their careers at J.B. Hunt.
“Inclusion means to me, you know, getting to walk the same halls that Mr. Hunt did and feel the same sense of wholeness and pride and safety that he did,” said Talent Optimization Consultant, Jackie.
Celebrating Pride Month
June is Pride month, and to celebrate, PLUS(+) will host engaging activities and events throughout the month, open to all J.B. Hunt employees. If you are a current J.B. Hunt employee, mark your calendars! You do not want to miss out on these exciting activities.
- Tuesday, June 8 at 12 p.m. CT: Join us for an important virtual Lunch & Learn event with guest Speaker, Alison Nail-Malone. She will share her tips for how to be authentic to yourself and with the people you work with.
- Week of June 14 – June 18: During “Rock the Rainbow” week, employees are encouraged to wear a color of the rainbow each day to show their support for Pride month.
- Thursday, June 24 at 6 p.m. CT: Be You Bingo – A Virtual Pride Event! Employees are invited to show up as their true authentic selves for this virtual event.
