Read more about their career progression with J.B. Hunt and how they moved their careers from local warehousing and distribution jobs to accomplishing their goal of becoming company drivers.

Meet Julian

Julian started with J.B. Hunt as a driver helper at a warehouse in Georgia. As a driver helper, he learned a lot about warehouse logistics, from shipping and storing inventory to learning the installation requirements on last-mile deliveries. During that time, Julian got to know the drivers on the local account, where he found a community that encouraged him to advance in his career. That encouragement led him to pursue a career as a J.B. Hunt driver.

“Jumping into [becoming a driver] wasn’t easy, because you have to be mentally and physically ready for it,” shared Julian. “But I had a support group. I had guys encouraging me, helping me and giving me tools that later down the line made my life easier out in the field,” said Julian.

Today, Julian still drives with J.B. Hunt. Over his 15-year career, he has earned many awards recognizing his success, dedication and commitment to safety. He credits his success and his career growth to the people he met at J.B. Hunt while working in the warehouse.

“My favorite part of J.B. Hunt really is the support group. J.B. Hunt has supported me on every [career] decision I’ve made,” shared Julian. “I have a lot [of safety awards] because my account manager and the team around me makes me better.”

Meet Salomon

Salomon started at J.B. Hunt in the warehouse, originally joining through a temporary staffing agency. When he joined J.B. Hunt full-time, Salomon began as a driver helper, where he gained great experience helping drivers deliver and install products for customers. One of the drivers noticed his potential and told management that he could have a promising career as a driver.

“As I was watching my driver day-in and day-out do his job and meet different customers, I told myself, ‘I think this is something I can do myself, and this is an opportunity for me that I’ll not let go of.’ And eventually, it happened,” said Salomon.

Salomon has now been a Final Mile Services driver for 13 years. Throughout his career, he’s trained over 25 drivers and visited accounts all over the country. He’s achieved a lot over the years, including reaching the prestigious milestone of becoming a Million Mile driver!

“My favorite part of working with J.B. Hunt is the opportunity to grow with the company,” shared Salomon. “I trained a driver to become a builder specialist. My current manager started as a front desk worker, up to a warehouse supervisor, now an account manager. That is the part that I love so much about J.B. Hunt, it’s a place where you can grow.”
