Driver Turned Safety Director
Becoming one of J.B. Hunt’s celebrated Million Mile drivers is no small accomplishment. Chris went above and beyond, reaching an impressive two million safe miles — a milestone that typically takes seven to 10 years of accident-free, safe driving to achieve for only one million of those miles. His dedication to safety on the road not only benefited him but also helped ensure the safety of everyone around him.
In recognition of his outstanding commitment, Chris was honored at one of our Northeast Operations Kickoffs and promoted to Regional Safety Manager for our Intermodal business unit. After years of leading by example behind the wheel, Chris now helps lead safety efforts across the business. We’re proud to celebrate his achievements and grateful for the impact he continues to make.

Recruiting Safe Drivers
Since joining J.B. Hunt in 2016, Amber has been an essential part of our Corporate Driver Personnel team. In her current role, she leads a team of background verification coordinators (BVCs), the people responsible for helping us hire the safest drivers on the road. Their work is detailed and demanding, involving background checks, accident history reviews, moving violation reports and conversations with previous employers. Our teams are committed to finding drivers who practice safe driving, so they can continue carrying out J.B. Hunt’s safety culture. The BVC team plays a critical role in identifying and hiring the drivers that eventually become our Million Mile drivers, which shows that our commitment to safety truly begins with them.

After serving in the military, Danny, now a security engineer II, set his sights on a career that would give his work deeper meaning. That purpose became clear after he became a father. His “why” is simple: he wants to protect others. Today, he channels that passion into cybersecurity, helping to defend J.B. Hunt from the threats most people never see coming.
Our Engineering and Technology teams help build the innovative systems that give J.B. Hunt a competitive edge while understanding that protecting those systems is just as critical as creating them. From malware and credential theft to more sophisticated cyber threats, Danny and the other teams work behind the scenes to defend our infrastructure, our data and ultimately every person who relies on us. This includes the drivers who keep our freight moving and our customers that trust us to deliver their products.
